Just keep Pinning Pinning Pinning.

Owen is 4 months old already and I probably nursed Oliver efficiently about that long.  I'm a little paranoid after starving Oliver when he was around this age.  Every once in a while I have the feeling Owen is satisfied with my milk supply and get worried.

My mom and grandma taught me to make oatmeal water.  It's just boiling some oats with cinnamon sticks and sugar.  My mom puts apple chunks in to boil with it and it's amazing.  Then you strain it and drink the water.

I hated this when Oliver was a baby, and overcooked it every time, making a sticky mess in the pots and on the stove.  But they swear it helps produce milk.  So when Owen was born I let them make it for me.  And I enjoyed it.  And I made it myself with much more success, although not nearly as yummy.

Whether or not it did increase my milk supply like they said it would, it kept me hydrated since I fould myself drinking glass after glass of this and would usually not drink water.  And then I started hearing and reading testimonials all over the place that oatmeal is for unknown reasons an excellent milk producer.

So recently I started having those nagging feelings that I was failing as a nursing mother and made myself a giant batch of oatmeal water.  This time I saved the oatmeal I strained and had some for breakfast.  I actually liked that too! Such a shocker.  I usually have to force down oatmeal.

So now I'm on an oatmeal kick... and thank God for Pinterest, I've found some oatmeal recipes I want to try.  I figure they ought to be delish and if Owen gets to enjoy some also its a double win!

Pirate Party Planning- Pinterest Pstyle.

It's officially February and, as Baby Daddy Natey Poo reminded me, in twelve days we will have a two year old.  It's normal that I'm sad about that right?

I miss the little baby that exists now only in my memory and millions of pictures.  But I am so in love with the little boy who is a whiz at puzzles, loves trains, climbs like a monkey, and has a magical laugh.

Two of his favorite things right now are pirates and trains.  Soooooo.... we are going to give him a Pirate-Train Party! Naturally.  And of course, I turned to Pinterest for inspiration.

Here are some goodies I've found.

Twit Face

I created a Twitter account.  I guess my Facebook obsession wasn't enough.  Or Blogger.  Or Pinterest.  Not to mention my DVR.  Geesh! Good thing I wasn't born a hundred years ago.

So now I need to figure out what exactly the point of Twitter is.  How do I decide what is twitter worthy as opposed to what belongs on facebook?

So in addition to Twitter, I added buttons to my blog linked to my Goodreads and Pinterest profiles (how do you like my primitive graphic design skills?).  I love these websites and it just hit me that I can link them up to and share even more of myself with those of you who follow and/or stop by from time to time to check out what we're up to.  So if anyone who finds their way to this blog also uses one of these sites feel free to friend/follow me there.  Another great way to share interests and meet people.

Ok I just reminded myself of this commercial...so funny in a sad and pathetic kind of way.  Ooooh dear.

My Mom is Going to Kill Me...

My mom hates the idea of giving Oliver sweets.  She doesn't want to ruin him.  I'm pretty sure I was addicted to Coca-Cola from birth sooooooooo.....while I don't want him to have my food issues, I let him get in some yummies since he eats pretty balanced overall.

First, I digress-

Last week was so terrible for me.  Baby Daddy Natey Poo worked soooo hard and so long, and evil me felt bad for myself.  I wanted to run away.  I wanted to cry.  I wanted to just be alone! The stress of being a SAHM and the idea of adding another on top of Nate's unpredictable schedule really hit me hard.  Oliver watched wayyyyy too much TV, and I just felt even worse about myself for it.

To correct my mood and 'tude I will be trying extra hard to keep both Oliver and myself busy.  Today didn't drag on nearly as long as any given day did last week.  So day one of keep busy was pretty successful I think.

My friend introduced me to Pinterest.com- no it's not internet crack or anything.  I can stop searching and pinning anytime I want to.  What addiction?  Anyway... she loved this and so I re-pinned and executed: Frozen Banana Bites

I combined 1/3 cup of milk chocolate chips and 1/3 cup of peanut butter, microwaved for 30 seconds and mixed it together to make the dip.

To include Little Monkey in today's activity I spooned just a litttttle bit of the dip into a bowl for him, gave him a plate of sliced bananas and some nonpareil sprinkles to add another step and a different texture.

Don't worry, don't worry....I took pictures.

Yeah...none of Oliver's made it into the freezer (in case you couldn't tell).  But here is the finished product of my version of today's busy project.  Nate loved them, and it was easy so we will be doing it again.
